Following Tiger at the US Open 2008 Torrey Pines

Following Tiger at the US Open 2008 Torrey Pines was a total zoo. Not like the old days when he first came on tour, but it is now as if he were the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Eagles all rolled into one man. If you were there and were lucky enough to be only two people deep, you should consider yourself lucky. This only would happen down the fairway where there is a little more room. Trying to get to see him tee off or roll the putts, was like trying to get into a Rock concert without a ticket.

One strategy we used a lot was to go about three holes ahead of him and wait for his group to get to you. We tried going a hole or two ahead and it was already a mob scene. So the answer was three holes ahead to have any chance of seeing him tee off or putt. This strategy worked, but was also frustrating because you would only see him for 6 holes of his 18 hole round. Good for you Tiger! You’ve earned the fame, fortune and money. But I bet you’d trade it all in that great family of yours with you, Elin and the new addition of baby Sam…Congrats…Last Fathers Day at the open was my first Fathers Day too. I brought my baby boy Dylan to meet you, but you were a little busy trying to tie Rocco to get into the Monday playoff.

Just look at the beautiful Red Rock behind Giovanna and myself. his is taken at the golf cCourse at the Hilton resort in Sedona Arizona. you have got to go if you haven't been. There is actually a lot to do in town other than play golf. There are great shops and reataurants. You can go on Jeep tour, mountain biking or hiking. A great trip to get away and be romatic with the loved one or take the entire family. You can't go wrong. Enjoy Sedona, I know you'll love it.

Vijay Sing the Fed Ex Cup & $10 Million

With the FedExCup and it's $10 million winner's purse now firmly in his possession, Vijay Singh can now afford to relax. Thank God because he almost lost with Camilo Villegas, Sergio garcia and Anthony Kim right on his heels. But with the $15 million dollar payout today between the three players, I guess they are very happy.

"I'm glad it's over," Singh would later say. "I made 72 holes and was reminded 1,000 times before I started this week, Make sure you finish 72 holes, sign your card, enough clubs, and gosh, everything else. ... I tried to make it very simple on my card today, no mistakes, and tried to make all 18 pars at this point.
"But I'm glad it's over, and I played well. I'm glad this Cup is over. I know it's mine now, so it's a good feeling."

"You make a bogey, you get congratulated; you make a double, you get congratulated. It didn't really matter what I made," Singh said. "But it took away the focus of playing this tournament. I tried really hard. When I left to come over here to play, I said, I'm going to keep focus. But that's as far as I got."

Congratulations Vijay. We are all very proud of you. All your hard work for so many years, it is really nice to see you finish #1. Enjoy some time off this fall.

Sincerely,

Lee Westwood Complains about Americans

I am going to start this article off by saying that I am a huge Lee Westwood fan. I've been following him and his buddy Darren Clark since they first came onto the European tour in the early 1990's.

With that said, Lee, I am really pissed off at you. What kind of crap comments did you make about Americans after getting you butt kicked in the Ryder Cup? Dude, you are totally out of line and you come across like a whining little baby. Lee, you totally lost a lot of respect from me. You said that Americans were rude and disrespectful and you probably said worse things about us that the media didn't get to hear. What did you expect at Valhalla? We've been getting our butts kicked by you guys for 9 years, so when we did well at Valhalla, did you expect the crowd not go crazy? Come on Lee, we were the underdogs this year and we took it to you! Take it like a man and congratulate us and move on. Don't poop on the country and countrymen that pay your paycheck. Otherwise and if that's the case, then don't come over here and play golf.

Seriously!!!!!!

USA Wins the Ryder Cup Con't

Sign me up as a member of Valhalla. Is that course just incredible or what? I think I'd like to be a member there. Oh yea, it's in Kentucky and I live in San Diego, California. This years Ryder cup had some of the best putting I've ever seen in my life. It was like watching Tiger Woods outt when he is on one of those rolls where everything he looks at goes in, except it was 24 other players from around the world having a carrer weekend. How about Kenny Perry all weekend long and the last day, with all the pressure of winning the Ryder Cup on his shoulders. Admitting outloud that this years Ryder Cup will define his career and then, coming through with so many victories. I can't tell you how excited I was all weekend long watching at home on TV. I think about 1999 when Justin Leonard holed that put against Jose Maria Olathable and the US went on the win the Ryder Cup. It was amazing and I am so happy for captain Paul Azinger. Contratulations USA!

Sincerely,

USA Wins the Ryder Cup

Not many people gave the US a chance, but I predicted a US victory. I figured without Tiger, we actually had a chance. Sorry Tiger, I love you, but your record in the Ryder cup sucks. Being #1 in world by such a large margin, puts a lot of pressure on you. You are supposed to win, therefore, whoever they put you up against, has no pressure whatsoever, because they are supposed to lose. Plus I think you try too hard to win. Also factoring into my US victory prediction, it's on US soil and captain Paul Azinger (Paul Amazinger) as I call him, picked a few home town boys from Kentucky. All my predictions came through. It was a very exciting match. If you didn't watch the Ryder Cup this year, you totally blew it. It was very exciting and the Valhalla golf course is unbelievable. I think I could play that course everyday for the rest of my life and never get bored or tired of it.

Brand New Golf Course called the Journey at Pechanga

Designed by Steve Forrest of Arthur Hills and sitting president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA), designed this southern California track fresh off a pair of award-winning projects in Sweden. Ok, so he is one of the principals at Arthur Hills, but I swear he’s learned a lot from Jack Nicklaus, because if you play this course for the first time and have no idea who designed it, your first guess would “Jack.”

Coming originally from Orange County, now I make my home in San Diego, I would compare this course to a Similar design by “Jack”, a course called Dove Canyon Country Club. Lots of similarities with raised fairways that fall off like at the Stadium PGA West in the Coachella Valley. Also the bunkering is very similar to Jacks design in that they tend to fall off to lower ground so you are hitting 6 feet up to a green. It also reminds me of another private orange county course called Coto De Caza, another Orange County gem.

Now I am not saying he has copied anything from jack, but some of the really cool features that I love about Jack’s design, I can see here in this course. Great Job Steve Forrest! I loved the course. I was very surprised how much water was on the course and how great the greens were.

The clubhouse will open in November 2008 and when it does, it will look like a private country club or better! Anyone coming to Temecula looking for the complete package of resort, spa, gambling entertainment and golf, Pechanga sure has come a long way for the white tents and portable trailers when it first opened. If we blind folded you, you would think you were in Vegas. Come visit and play this gem. You’ll love it.

Sincerely,

Craig Garcia
